1891 census record: ROBER T. LAMB, Licenced Victualler, Waterloo Inn

Robert Thomas LAMB (1859-1931) a profile
Robert T. Lamb was born at Cockfield in 1859, the son of Robert and Jane Lamb. Robert senior was an agricultural labourer, working on farms at Cockfield then Hurworth, near Darlington. By 1881, the Lamb family lived at Evenwood and by then Robert senior worked as a coal miner. Son Robert, now 21 years old was recorded as a “school master”. In 1885, Robert Thomas Lamb married Jane Ann Bowser. By 1890, there was a change in employment – he was the landlord of the “Waterloo Inn”, Evenwood. The 1891 census, recorded Robert as a, “Licensed Victualler”. By 1901, then aged 41, he and his wife Jane lived at Ingleton, “on his own means”. Jane died in some years later and Robert married Margaret Bainbridge in 1909, some 20 years younger than him. By 1911, they had a 11 months old son James Bainbridge Lamb and they lived at Boldron, near Barnard Castle. He lived on his own means. In 1931, aged 72, Robert T. Lamb died at Darlington
