NORTH AFRICA: TOM McCUTCHEON

It’s not every day that you get shown photos of King George V and Winston Churchill with the troops.  Anthony McCutcheon brought out his grandfather Tom’s war box – photos, medals, service identification documents and other paraphernalia.   

Leading Aircraftman Tom McCutcheon RAFVR served in North Africa, Sicily and Italy with 114 Squadron, as an armourer’s assistant fitting up Bristol Blenheims and Boston aircraft. Here’s some photos:

Above: CHURCHILL ADDRESSING THE TROOPS possibly sometime between 4 & 9 August 1943.  Tom was in Sicily at the time so either Churchill visited the troops earlier than reported or Tom got the photo from someone else.
