EVENWOOD ROAD RUNNERS

Formed in 1992, by Tony Hindmarch, Andy Laybourn and Jim Sowerby, Evenwood Road Runners has developed into a well-respected local athletics club with a senior membership of over 75 with a Junior Section of over 30. Nowadays, the senior club is well run by Gary Atkinson and the Junior section by Paul and Sam Tucker. The Evenwood Road Runners vest has been seen home and abroad, with members competing in runs all over the United Kingdom ranging from 5K to marathon distances. Senior member “Rick Bennett” has completed marathons in countries around the world eg USA, Italy, Germany and Tenerife.

Tony has competed in 32 Great North Runs and Andy in 29 before his knees gave up.

Members regularly complete park runs around the north every Saturday and John Tully, Gary Atkinson and Gail Richards have completed a park run location starting with every letter of the Alphabet. This required travelling to runs in South Africa, Scotland, Ireland and Netherlands.
