The November edition of the Evenwood Parish Magazine reported the victory of last Spring. Apparently, there were 4 games before the team triumphed. A social event was held in the school and Mr. Bouch was presented with a silver mounted walking stick. Mr. Bouch was one of the National School masters.

Not surprisingly, the 1914-18 period did not see much football in civilian life with so many young men on active service during the First World War.
Pre war, football was also played at a competitive level at Ramshaw and it was reported that in 1910, Ramshaw fielded a team which played in the Gaunless Valley League. There is a photo of a team outside the Railey Fell Colliery Institute which includes Robert and Jack Brunskill, Herbert Maughan and Albert “Fatty” Proud. The Chronicle reported that in November 1914, Ramshaw Institute played Evenwood Harriers.
It is also reported that some football took place during the war years. An example is that in October 1917, Evenwood Rovers were defeated 2-1 by Chilton.
