Since the summer of 2023, Aline Waites (nee Gallimore) with a number of volunteers including Tony Capeling, Joy Gallimore, Peter Clarke, Brian Carter, Stuart and Dawn Fox, now known as the Evenwood Cemetery Volunteers, have been working in the old part of the cemetery to clear the undergrowth. Malcolm Gallimore and Lisa Hodgson have loaned equipment. Ian Sowerby has built bird/bat boxes and Maddie Benton has erected them. Work is being undertaken with the approval of the relevant authorities.
Many headstones have been revealed and Aline has posted a number of stories on the “I Came Frome Evenwood & Ramshaw” Facebook Page. She will continue to do so and, as research on the headstones and the families continues, fuller details will be posted on this website for our readers to learn more about the families and the rich history that they offer.
