We will attempt to set the context for our area. The whole area was covered by forest until the probably 16th century, the remnants are probably Craggwood and Brusselton Wood. Clearings would have been made by the early settlers in medieval times and from Norman era, the Bishop of Durham controlled the land.
Kings and Queens, isn’t our strong point and we are sure, many people out there know far more than us.
